There’s something strange in the museum…Who you gonna call? Ghost Dusters!
If you listen really closely, you can hear a tiny “nom nom nom”! Photo taken by me today at the @nhmla’s Butterfly Pavilion.
Curiosity of the day answer: Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillar! I took this photo this week in our Butterfly Pavilion at the Natural History Museum of L.A County. This fat little caterpillar will soon become a gorgeous iridescent blue and black butterfly.
Curious curiosity of the day: What is this?
Curiosity of the day answer: (Sorry it’s so late!) Fossil turtle shell from the Kaiparowits Formation (Late Cretaceous) collected by the Raymond M. Alf Museum. Even though turtle shell, like this, is very commonly found, I’ll never get used to seeing the beautiful and intricate patterns on the surface. Great guesses!
